JAKE E: The Voice Behind the Anthem If you've ever been swept up in a massive, multi-vocalist metal anthem, chances are you've already heard Jake E. For more than two decades, the Swedish singer, songwriter, and producer has been a defining presence in modern rock and metal, delivering soaring melodies, razor-sharp hooks, and an energy that turns every stage into a full-scale celebration. Today, he stands at the center of his own creative universe as frontman, lyricist, producer, and increasingly, screen performer. Jake E first reached a global audience as co-founder and co-lead clean vocalist of Amaranthe, the band that rewrote the rules of modern melodic metal. Formed in 2008, Amaranthe fused three distinct vocal approaches (clean male, clean female, and harsh growls) with electronic dance textures and heavy, riff-driven metal. The result was a sound that was bold, polished, and unmistakably their own. Over eight years, the band earned gold and platinum records and toured the world multiple times, building a devoted international following. Jake's powerful, emotive voice became one of the signatures of that sound, anchoring choruses designed to be sung by thousands. In 2016, Jake E made the decision to step away from Amaranthe and pursue a vision in which his songwriting and vocal potential could take center stage. That decision led him to former In Flames guitarist Jesper Strömblad, with whom he formed Cyhra. As frontman and main lyricist, Jake shaped the band into a modern melodic metal force, pairing heartfelt storytelling with muscular guitars and anthemic scale. Alongside Cyhra, he launched How We End, a crossover project with former Evanescence guitarist Jen Majura, further showcasing his willingness to explore new sonic territory and collaborate across genres. Stylistically, Jake E lives where melody and heaviness collide. His work draws on the grand hooks of classic melodic metal, the precision of modern production, and the pulse of electronic music, all delivered with a high-voltage, performance-driven attitude. His vocals move effortlessly from tender, vulnerable passages to full-throated, arena-ready power, and his lyrics balance introspection with defiance. Whether on record or live, his approach is built on connection: songs meant to be shared, shouted, and felt. That philosophy reaches a new peak with Cyhra's tenth anniversary and the release of their fourth studio album, Requiem For A Pipe Dream, via Reigning Phoenix Music. A bold step into modern, synth-driven melodic metal, the album showcases Jake's most versatile vocal work to date, balancing cinematic atmosphere, sharp dynamics, and big-hearted choruses. It marks a decade of growth for the band and confirms Jake E as a vocalist and writer still pushing himself forward. Jake's creative reach now extends well beyond the microphone. His acting career is gaining serious momentum, highlighted by his starring role in the highly anticipated film Metal Dragon, alongside legendary Motörhead drummer Mikkey Dee. Pre-screenings have already sold out in major cities, signaling strong excitement for the project. He also appears in the cinematic project EONBLADE: Part 1, further establishing himself as a multidimensional entertainer equally at home in front of a camera and a crowd. Away from the stage and the set, Jake is deeply committed to the next generation of artists. Based in Gothenburg, he works as a vocal producer and recording engineer, tracking vocals and producing records for rising acts such as Odorian and The Lavettes. His experience as a frontman, songwriter, and studio craftsman gives him a rare perspective, and he brings that expertise to emerging artists looking to sharpen their sound and elevate their performances. Looking ahead, Jake E shows no sign of slowing down. With Cyhra entering a new chapter, a growing film career, and a busy production schedule, he continues to expand the boundaries of what a modern metal artist can be. His mission remains simple: write songs that move people, perform them with everything he has, and help others find their own voice along the way. Two decades in, Jake E is not looking back. He is turning the volume up, and the loudest chapter is still ahead.
