About

Vemød is a progressive metalcore project built around clean vocals rather than the riff, with a dark, melancholic core. The name is the Scandinavian word for melancholy and longing, and that feeling runs through everything the project makes. Jonathan Thorpenberg writes, records and produces it all at Welfare Studios in Gothenburg. Its sound stretches from progressive structures to pop-influenced arrangements, growing more grounded and less genre-restless with each release. Vemød has shared stages with Dead by April and Eclipse across Sweden and Denmark. The new album, The Self & Oblivion, arrives November 13, 2026, following the singles Neon God, Fragile Threads and Obsolete.
